What ISO 2852 Covers

ISO 2852 is the international standard for stainless steel clamp pipe couplings in the food industry — the system the world calls Tri-Clamp or ferrule clamp connections. Where a German drawing says DIN 32676 and an American biopharma spec says ASME BPE, an international project document says ISO 2852. Same connection family, coordinated dimensions, different standard number.

The standard defines the complete hygienic coupling: two clamp liners (ferrules) — welded or expanded type — plus the gasket, covering dimensions, tolerances, surface roughness, materials, assembly, and hygienic requirements. (The clamp itself is deliberately not standardized; the standard only sets the clearances it must fit.)

And at the heart of it all sits the gasket. When the clamp closes over the two liner faces, the gasket is the only thing between your product and a leak. It must compress evenly, fill the microscopic marks on the steel faces, and stay hygienic through thousands of open-close-clean cycles. That is exactly the part we make.

ISO 2852 Gasket Dimensions

Gasket size follows the coupling's nominal size. The gasket OD matches the liner face; the ID clears the tube bore:

Thickness is a balancing act. The gasket must be thin enough to compress fully under normal hand clamping force — an over-thick gasket stops the clamp from closing correctly and leaves the joint under-sealed. But it must be thick enough to fill the minor scratches and machining marks every real liner face carries — an over-thin gasket seals only on the high spots. The standard's 5.5 mm hits that balance, and ZSR holds thickness tolerance to ±0.1 mm so every gasket compresses the same way, every time, in every clamp on your line.

Food Safety and Surface Requirements

An ISO 2852 gasket is a food-contact component, and the standard's own hygienic clause says it plainly: the gasket material must be compatible with the fitting, the foodstuff, and the cleaning media — and must not impart any odor or taste to the product. Here is how our gaskets answer that:

We mold these gaskets with a smooth, glossy, pore-free surface — the elastomer answer to the standard's own demand for finely finished surfaces (Ra ≤ 1 μm on the steel liners). No rough skin, no micro-texture, nowhere for residue to cling. Product releases cleanly, and CIP washes everything away.
