AS568 Size System Applied to Gaskets
AS568 is the American aerospace size standard for O-rings. It is not a gasket standard — but in real projects, its inner diameters (ID) and cross-sections (CS) are widely used as a ready-made size reference for small circular gaskets, washer-style gaskets, and gland seals. The reason is simple: the sizes are fixed, published, and known by engineers everywhere. If your groove was designed for an AS568 size, a gasket made to the same ID and CS will fit right in.

Gasket Styles Based on AS568 Dimensions
The same AS568 ID and CS can be made in three different gasket styles. Each style fits a different sealing job:

Quick guide
Choose the flat washer when there is no groove and you seal two flat surfaces. Choose the round O-ring profile when a groove already exists — it needs the least bolt force to seal. Choose the D-ring when rotation is a risk: the flat base stops the gasket from rolling or twisting, which protects the seal and makes assembly easier.

An AS568 standard silicone gasket is a sealing gasket made to a size from the AS568 system — the American aerospace standard that fixes the inner diameter and cross-section of 369 standard ring sizes, known by their dash numbers.
Strictly speaking, AS568 is an O-ring standard. But its size system has become a common language for all kinds of small round seals.
