DIN 2690 Silicone Gasket
Manufacturer & Custom Solutions
Flat Gaskets for PN Flanges
DIN 2690 is the old German standard for flat flange gaskets, now replaced by EN 1514-1, but many buyers still search for it. Gaskets for this standard are usually made from compressed fiber sheet, rubber or PTFE. Silicone is a better choice when the line carries food, or when the flange sees very low or very high temperatures, because silicone works from -60°C to +200°C and is safe for food contact. ZSR produces silicone flat gaskets to DIN 2690 and EN 1514-1 dimensions for PN6 to PN40 flanges. Common DN sizes are in stock for fast delivery. Just tell us your flange DN and PN, and we will do the rest.

Understanding PN Flanges and DIN 2690
DIN 2690 is the German standard for flat gaskets used on PN-designated pipe flanges — covering ratings from PN10 up to PN100 (PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40, PN63, PN100).
What does PN mean?
PN stands for Pressure Nominal — the European pressure rating system. The number is roughly the maximum working pressure in bar at room temperature: a PN16 flange handles about 16 bar, a PN40 flange about 40 bar. As temperature rises, the allowed pressure drops, following the flange standard's rating tables.
What does DN mean?
DN stands for Diameter Nominal — the nominal pipe bore in millimeters. DN100 means a pipe of roughly 100 mm bore. Every DIN 2690 gasket is sized to its DN number and its PN rating.
At ZSR Silicone Parts, we manufacture DIN 2690 silicone gaskets for DN sizes from DN10 to DN1000 and larger — cut to standard dimensions, with food grade material available for the food and water lines where these flanges are so common.
DN Size and Gasket Dimensions
The gasket's inner diameter follows the DN number; the outer diameter grows with the PN rating — higher pressure flanges are bigger and need bigger gaskets. Common sizes (IBC ring type, mm):
DN | Gasket ID | OD for PN10 / PN16 | OD for PN25 / PN40 | Standard Thickness |
|---|---|---|---|---|
DN15 | 22 | 50 | 51 | 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm |
DN20 | 28 | 60 | 61 | 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm |
DN25 | 35 | 70 | 71 | 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm |
DN40 | 49 | 92 | 92 | 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm |
DN50 | 61 | 107 | 107 | 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm |
DN65 | 77 | 127 | 127 | 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm |
DN80 | 90 | 142 | 142 | 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm |
DN100 | 115 | 162 | 168 | 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm |
DN125 | 141 | 192 | 194 | 2 / 3 mm |
DN150 | 169 | 218 | 224 | 2 / 3 mm |
DN200 | 220 | 273 | 284 – 290 | 2 / 3 mm |
DN250 | 274 | 329 | 340 – 352 | 2 / 3 mm |
DN300 | 325 | 384 | 400 – 417 | 2 / 3 mm |
PN25 and PN40 outer diameters start to differ at DN200 and above — tell us your exact PN rating and we confirm the dimension. Full charts for all DN and PN combinations are available on request.
About higher PN ratings
Higher pressure means higher bolt load. For PN40 and above, we recommend thicker gaskets (3 mm) or our fiberglass reinforced silicone, which resists extrusion under heavy bolting.
Fast production
ZSR keeps cutting templates for the common DN sizes on file. Standard sizes move straight to cutting — no setup delay, short lead times, and common sizes ship from stock.
DIN 2690 vs EN 1514-1
Buyers often meet both names for what looks like the same gasket. Here is the relationship:
Factor | DIN 2690 | EN 1514-1 |
|---|---|---|
Status | Older German standard, officially withdrawn | Current harmonized European standard |
Region | Germany and legacy European plants | All EU projects and new installations |
Dimensions | The original size system | Largely the same — IDs are identical or very close for most DN sizes |
Tolerances | Standard of its time | Tighter, more formal tolerance and marking requirements |
Gasket Types | Flat ring and full face | Formally defines IBC, FF, TG (tongue-and-groove), and SR (spigot-recess) types |
Typical Buyer | Maintenance, spare parts, older drawings | New projects, engineering specifications |
What this means for you
In most cases, a gasket made to one standard physically fits the other's flanges — the dimensions are the same or within a millimeter. But if your drawing or your customer's specification says EN 1514-1, order EN 1514-1; if an old German drawing says DIN 2690, we make that.
ZSR manufactures to both standards. Not sure which one your flange needs? Send us the drawing number, the old gasket, or simply the DN and PN — we will confirm the right standard before production.
What Is DIN 2690?
DIN 2690 is a classic German standard for flat gaskets on PN pipe flanges. Published by DIN, the German Institute for Standardization, it fixed the inner and outer diameters of nonmetallic flat gaskets for every DN size and PN pressure rating — so a gasket from any maker would fit any PN flange built to the matching German standards. Although it has been officially withdrawn and replaced by the European standard EN 1514-1, DIN 2690 never really left: thousands of drawings, spare parts lists, and maintenance manuals across Europe and beyond still call for it by name. It remains one of the most searched gasket standards in the replacement market.
